CMS is getting tough on recovering what it believes are substantial Medicare Part A and B overpayments. Florida, New York, and California are the pilot states for a new CMS three-year demonstration project designed to identify and recover Medicare Part A and B overpayments missed by fiscal intermediaries, carriers, and DME regional carriers. The focus will be on primary Medicare claims and Medicare-as-secondary-payer (MSP) claims. CMS will use contractors that are paid on a contingency-fee basis. If the three-year project is successful, this approach will likely expand to other states.
Join us for these two 90-minute programs that will address how to prepare for and respond to Recovery Audit Contractor inquiries or demands. You'll learn what you need to do to maintain compliance with RAC requests and to reduce the significant financial risks that are at stake.
Learning Objectives, Day One
- Learn the background objectives of the RAC program
- Understand who will be affected and what types of claims (and timeframes) will be subject to RAC scrutiny
- Learn who the RAC contractors are; their authority and timetable; and the process that they will follow
Learning Objectives, Day Two
- Learn how to prepare for the audits and what rights and obligations providers will have in the process
- Learn what your organization can do to mitigate legal risks when receiving a RAC request
- Learn what additional resources are available to organizations to help them learn more now or assist them with future issues
